Princeton University’s Innovations for Successful Societies(ISS) program seeks to engage one to more researchers to assist with the development of management case studies related to municipal government coordination, public financial management, and other topics. The work will take place principally between September 2019 and January 2020.
Case study development entails pre-trip background research, contacting, field interviews overseas, write-up, and quote clearance. Each case typically goes through 6 drafts before publication on the program’s website; therefore, ability to work effectively with editors and to share writing with a group is essential. The ideal candidate has relevant social science preparation or equivalent experience, a year or more of work experience in a low-income country, exceptional writing skills, poise in conducting interviews with senior officials, ability to travel outside the US for 14 days at a time, and demonstrated capacity for teamwork.
We are particularly interested in people with knowledge of public finance and budgeting or municipal service provision. Practical experience in India, Turkey, Palestine, or Latin America and/or facility with Spanish, Turkish, or Arabic is valuable.
